I love your drawings so much, I love how it mixes creepiness with some whimsy.

Chorilate responds:

Hahah thanks! I like that sort of combination, a lot of old fantasy art was awesomw for it somewhat weird yet cool look, nowadyas most stuff tends to go full on cool or.. some other aesthetics that I like a bit less..., and yeah it works and looks fine, even great sometimes but it isn't the same

RIP David Lynch, he inspired me to be my authentic self artistically, and to create no matter how strange it may seem to others. 💔

This reminds me how my five year old cousin would get after trying his best to beat the first boss of Astro’s Playroom lol

I love the poses and the expressions!

Oooh, is that the Headless Horseman?! If it isn’t, I don’t care, I love it.

slurponaut responds:

he very much still has a head!! the skull lantern is someone else's head lol

The skeletons and the macabre setting of this is so beautiful. Reminds me of how I felt reading the original Pinocchio fairy tale, if that makes sense.

ciralincixx responds:

yeah!! i always enjoy how grim those original fairy tales are

That perspective and emotion on him is done really well! When I saw the thumbnail without looking at the title, I immediately recognized him!

ciralincixx responds:

thank you dude!

The darkness of the background being illuminated by the fire and halo is so impressive. What was your thought process behind this, may I ask? Was the meme of that little girl smugly looking back over her shoulder as a house burns down an inspiration?

AntonM responds:

Lool, that's classic. The burning house just popped into my head, I drew the pose and her expression first without any idea for the story and I remember instantly thinking "there's a house on fire behind her". Could be from the meme, you never know with just drawing random shit from your brain...

You seemed to have an interesting message, being the overconsumption of natural resources, however, I think you could have conveyed it better. For example, you stated in your description that the girl was reaching out for an apple, however, it doesn't seem to look like that. If the dead tree was depicted upright, with its lifeless branches wilting over the girl, it would create symmetry and a better suited and concrete metaphor. Another thing I would suggest is more value, which I know is strange since you were trying to draw a silhouette, but I personally think that there's nothing much to look at. You also shouldn't have put the message into the art piece since it takes away from interpreting the art piece.
I know it may sound harsh, but you seemed to put more effort into the description for your art piece than the actual art piece. Though I respect the vulnerability of it, the emotions I felt reading it should've been from the art itself. I gave half of a star because the idea of the metaphor for the message was solid. It has multiple layers; the girl could represent future generations dealing with the few resources left, or she could represent our society itself, ever craving those resources even when it is scarce. Lastly, I would suggest is to study a bit on anatomy. Even with more simplistic art styles, it's important. It may seem daunting, but how you can study anatomy is by simply looking at hands, for example, and break them down to shapes. I'm not really an artist, so I can't explain it very concisely, but there's many resources on that on the internet. If you look at this comment, please don't take it as a discouragement, rather the opposite! You have great ideas for metaphors, and the more you improve, the more you will interpret those feelings unto the paper or canvas.

Stonmann responds:

I think half a heart is a bit harsh :T but you're right. I didn't put more effort into the description than the drawing tho, I'm just better at writing than drawing. Thx 4 the review! :))

How you can make multiple pieces of pixel art so realistic is beyond me.
